Driveway Getting Dirty? Use A Pressure Washer To Get It Clean

Posted on: 16 December 2021

If your driveway is getting dirty this can make your whole house look bad. Fortunately, you can get it clean to make it look new again. The best way to do this is by using a pressure washer. You can pressure wash your driveway yourself or hire a professional pressure washing company to do it for you. This may be a better option if you have a large and long driveway. Keep reading so you can get your driveway clean.

Remove Debris and Make Repairs

Before you start cleaning your driveway make sure debris is removed to make it easier. Sweep away leaves, sticks, etc. using a broom. If you have a lot of leaves use a leaf blower to make it go faster. Once all debris is removed inspect the driveway for any damage. You may have small cracks that you are not aware of. If you find any, purchase a crack filler at a home improvement store and fill in these cracks. If you find large cracks, contact a professional to repair them for you. If you do not, the pressure washer may cause the cracks to become larger and to spread.

Protect Plants

Place a tarp over plants that are planted near the driveway to protect them. You can use canvas drop cloths to do this or plastic. Remove the tarp as soon as you finish so the plants do not get overheated. Without a tarp, water will spray on these plants which may cause injury or even cause the plants to die. If there are bushes near the driveway, make sure you cover these also.

Pressure Wash

If you do not have a pressure washer you can rent one from a home improvement store. Purchase a cleaner especially made for the type of driveway you have. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on how to fill the pressure washer with the cleaner. Use the correct wand to clean your driveway. Wands come in different degrees, and you may need to use more than one. For example, you may need to use a different wand to concentrate on a stained area. The instructions should give you information about this. Once it is ready, start at the top of the driveway and move your way down, moving the wand back and forth as you go. When you are finished, use a hose to rinse off the cleaning solution.

Put a sealant on your driveway when you are finished to help keep it clean and to protect it.
